Person Timeline
My family moved around quite a bit, so adding "Residence" events to my father's timeline is important. Because my mother moved to the same locations, it would be valuable if I could attach the same "Residence" events that I created for dad's timeline, to mom's timeline (similar to how the children records are automatically attached to both parents).
Actually, if this feature was going to be added... it would be meaningful to permit associating the "Residence" events to the children records as well, since each move affects each child who is alive at the time.
Another feature that would be good (but not as important), is if I could connect (or associate) these "Residence" events to "Story" entries. That way it would be easy to go back and forth between the "Story" entry and the Timeline events.

Maybe, I am confused; and, I do not understand what you are getting at ...
.
So ...
That said ...
.
Excluding "Memories" (eg. "Stories") ...
.
Regarding an individual's/person's "Person/Details" page or screen ...
.
Apart from the "Vitals" Section (ie. Birth; Christening; Death; Burial), for that individual/person ...
.
There is, the "Other Information" Section, for that individual/person ...
.
Where, there is an "Option", for an "Event", one of those "Events" being that of "Residence" ...
.
As far as I am aware; which, I could be wrong; and, I stand corrected, if I am:
.
Each of the VARIOUS "Residences" that I have added for the individuals/persons, appears in the "Time Line", for the respective individual/person ...
.
Question: WHY, can't you, just "Added" the VARIOUS "Residences", as an "Event", in the "Other Information" Section, to EACH individual/person, separately - that is what I do.
.
Please advise, if I am reading things incorrectly ...

Are you suggesting that after adding a "Residence" event to my fathers timeline... I could just go to my mothers record and add a "Residence" event record to her timeline as well??
If that is your suggestion then I totally agree. I could do that. The problem though is any time I update the Residence event on my fathers timeline I have to remember to make the exact same update on my mothers and all of the children's records. It would be must better if there was a single "Residence" record that all relevant family members share... in the same way as children, marriages ..etc are automatically shared between relevant people.
Does that clarify my suggestion?

btw.. I have a younger brother named Brett... are you him??

Short Answers: 'Yes'; and, 'Yes'.
.
And, 'NO', that is NOT a problem/issue, that IS just what we have to do.
.
Unfortunately, there is NO (and, most likely, will never be any) "Automation", to that process; as, the "Details" (eg. "Residences") are ONLY unique/specific to EACH and every individual/person - Families may (ie. are) be connected/linked as a Family (and, in many "Sources"); but, their individual "Details" are NOT cross connected/linked.
.
And,
'Yes', it takes time; and, is time consuming; but, ...
'them's the breaks' ...
'such is life' ...
been there, done that, still do ...
.
I know as I have had to do it with some very LARGE Families (and, even, 'Extended' Families, all living in the same Household, over many years).
.
Remember:
Like it or not ...
Doing 'Genealogy'/'Family History', is NOT a 'Sprint' ...
Doing 'Genealogy'/'Family History', IS a 'Marathon' ...
.
So, 'Yes', that does clarify your suggestion.
.
Now ...
That said ...
.
On the 'lighter side' ...
.
'Nah', I would not think that I am your Brother ...
.
Highly unlikely, unless, you are a "Half-Sibling", that I knew nothing about; as, I am an ONLY Child (well, as far as I knew) ...
.
[ But, always possible; as, there are ALWAYS 'Skeletons in the Closet', in everyone's Family ... But, in this instance, 'No', I think NOT ... ]
.
Plus, unless, you are from "Downunder"; as, unlike me, my Parents never ventured Overseas.

The "Residence" information is not the common item here. It is the SOURCE that shows a specific group of people living in the same place.
When you attach a census index source to a person, the source linker give you the ability to link all of the family (household) members to the census index data sources. That is the time when you add the identical residence information to all of them. In fact, if you set up the information correctly on the first person in the household in the source linker, it allows you to automatically use that same value for all of them so you don't even have to cut and paste.
Unfortunately because of thee broken way that the source linker is trying to automatically use standard place names instead of the true value that has been entered for a given vital in the record, it makes it rather impossible to compare apples to apples. So in general, I will just go through the actual person records for each of the family members to confirm what really needs to be entered in the source linker.
FS broke that function several months ago and has never fixed it. It used to work correctly.
