Ordinance Cards Suggestion
Since each card is now only good for one ordinance (temples are no longer returning the cards) and few patrons can complete all ordinances in one visit, I am wondering why the ordinance cards are still showing up to 5 ordinances for an individual.
Why not have one smaller card showing just one ordinance?
This will save multiple reprints (along with associated financial and environmental costs), and allow us to retain reserved ordinances until completion.
It will be difficult to keep track of what is incomplete without the cards being returned, especially if the Ward youth take a pile for a baptism trip, as the reserved list will still show them as printed. Yes, they were printed, but now the cards are retained and shredded by the temple and I have to work out which ones I need to reprint. Very wasteful, and unnecessarily time consuming. This is not user friendly. ☹️

'No', I WANT to 'see' ALL Five (x5) "Ordinances", on ONE "Card", at the SAME 'Time'.
.
I am sorry ...
.
But, I would NOT wish to see your suggested enhancement implemented.
.
FYI
.
Regardless, of the NEW Policy of NOT Returning Cards as each Ordinance is "Completed" ...
.
WHY do you suggest that a Member User/Patron CANNOT "Complete" ALL Five (x5) "Ordinances" in ONE trip/visit, over the course of the day ... I have MANY times.
.
And, I am certain, that MOST of us, would PREFER to see ALL of the Five (x5) "Ordinances", on ONE "Card" for our Ancestor, at the SAME 'Time'; ESPECIALLY, if a "Temple" Returns the Card, for this to happen.
.
One may have to wait UNITIL an "Ordinance" is Recorded/Processed, to go on and undertake the next; but, such is WORTH the wait.
.
Plus, even if the "Temples" DO NOT Return the "Cards" after each "Ordinance" is "Completed"; AT LEAST, with having to "Print" a NEW "Card" for EACH "Ordinance", you can CONFIRM that the previous prerequisite "Ordinance" has been "Recorded".
.
I will just "Request" that the "Temple" to "Print" a NEW "Card" for EACH "Ordinance"; as, it is undertaken, during the course of the day.
.
The "Temples" WILL to HAVE to just continually "Printing" NEW "Cards" for everyone; as, they undertake ALL an Ancestor's Work, in the SAME Visit/Trip.
.
The non-return of "Cards" is a SERIOUSLY "Disappointing" development/move, by the "Temple" Department of the Church.
.
Plus ...
.
I know COUNTLESS Members of the Church, who have "Shoe Boxes" absolutely FULL of "Temple" Cards that are "Completed".
.
We WANT the RIGHT to RETAIN/KEEP them ... the non-return of the "Temple" Cards; as, "Ordinances" are "Completed", DENIES us that RIGHT.
.
The justification, that has been used, for the non-return of the "Temple" Cards; as, "Ordinances" are "Completed", is simply NOT good enough or acceptable.
.
That justification being:
(1) Many the "Temple" Cards with are "Completed" Work, were NOT being "Collected".
eg. "Temples" in the 'Utah Valley', ONLY 6% of Cards were being "Collected ...
That is fine for the "Temples" in the 'Utah Valley'; but, about the rest of the WORLD!!!???
(2) The "Temple" Cards with are "Completed" Work are used for SECONDARY Processing
ie. To ensure the Work was, in fact, recorded.
That is UNNECESSARY; as, NOW that we get "Notifications", we can be on top of that.
.
Again ...
.
I would NOT wish to see your suggested enhancement implemented.

Hi Karen,
Your idea has already been shared with the temple department and FamilySearch engineers for their consideration at least a year ago. I know, because I shared this very idea in a meeting to which I was invited. Putting the focus back on just the one particular ordinance is important.
Brett is also correct in that, in some smaller temples around the world, the patron will be able to complete multiple ordinances in one temple visit. Initially with phase 3 (of the temple reopening schedule) each of these appointments will need to be made in succession within the same day and only if time slots are available.
Also, everyone is being asked to bring their own temple ordinance card(s) with them to the temple. It may be easier for you to share your names to the shared temple list and allow others to print from Ordinances Ready. Or share the names directly to others so they can maintain the names in their own temple reservation list. These options will allow you less maintenance of keeping track of who has what, etc.

I wanted to add one reason I think we should see all ordinances on a card, to make sure we complete the ordinances in order. One thing temple workers check is that the baptism is done before the confirmation and again, they check that B&C is done before Initiatory. If you only had one ordinances printed that check system could not happen and it would also prevent doing all the ordinances in one day if you could not print the I or E until after you completed the B&C that same day you would need to print the next card at the temple after each ordinance were complete. (PS I am aware sealing can be done out of order but they always enourage us to do things in order when possible)
It does no harm to have all the ordinances printed on the same card but it would be nice to get them formatted different in size to get more printed per page to save paper. SO yes some changes could help, and I am sure the temple department is aware.

Hi Cindy,
The temple reservation software doesn't allow you to print an ordinance if the prior ordinance isn't already complete. For example if I have relative that needs all ordinances and I want to print only Initiatory. I cannot print a card for this relative since the Baptism and Confirmation are not completed.
The name ordinance cards the temples used to print for patrons (who didn't bring their own name) was for just that ordinance.

The temple system sends a message to your FS account when an ordinance is completed. They contain the person's name and ID. The person's name and family can then be accessed and looked at for further ordinance work.
