How to record illegitimate child with Father and Mother then the father and mother subsequent marria
Unfortunately, others will advise you that the procedure is rather more complicated than the way Shannon suggests. For example, some users (and FamilySearch employees) believe you should add the child to its biological parents (assuming both identities are known, of course) not as a couple but separately - especially in cases where there was no known lasting relationship between mother and father. Then there is the question of whether you should also add the child to the mother's second husband. This would usually be taken as the right thing to do when it is fairly clear he (the second husband) brought up the child as one of his family. In a case like this there is a drop-down menu so you can pick / display a "step" relationship.
Hopefully, a Family Tree user with experience in dealing with this type of situation will be able to provide detailed advice - with appropriate screenshots to help you through what is not always a straightforward process.
No criticism is meant of Shannon's suggestion - this will be appropriate in many circumstances, but perhaps not exactly for the one you are encountering.0
I am not sure how that will work since the father married another woman legally shortly after the child was born. I have decided on review of the situation, and what I have now read, to keep them separate. In my case the child did not in fact stay with the mother but was brought up by the fathers family.0
