Hey Carol - thats great!! As you know in the weeks ahead there will be a migration to the new community. . . so certain topics may not be worth disccuisng in too much detail until aftr that happens . . .

 

BUt I am just contacting various admins of the different groups - and asking them about ideas of how we can increase membership in the different groups. How to get the word out to people that dont know we exist? How to find such people?

Instead of just waiting for people to come to us . . . How can we help ensure people know where to look for us . . . .

(In this case - people who are interested in both Austrlia and Genealogy)

 

I wonder what ideas you have on the subject.

 

By the way - do you live in Australia?

I live in Hewitt, Texas USA. I'm a Family History Missionary. My role has been to monitor certain groups, send out Welcome messages and to respond to unanswered questions. My welcomes go to both people using the site for the first time and to people who join the groups I monitor (Chinese, Asis, New Zealand, Africa, Pacific Islands and Australia) I will bring the subject up of how we can help ensure people know where to look for us at our leadership meeting tomorrow.

 

With the new platform not out yet, you are right that it is probably best to wait until that time to implement new ideas. It is going to be a learning curve for all users.

I have requested to be an "Admin" for this 'Group', my OWN Country, for many Months now; but, to no avail.

I see no reason why we cant give people (new users) the help they want/need - even with a lot of new users

 

IF we share the work load with the many people who are ready and willing to be helpers in the community. they just need a simple invite.

Its Just that many are listed that are not really active - that are just there by name and not becaue they are actively managing the group.
