Working Together We can do Miracles.
In many decades past genealogical research was often something done "in a silo" - each person doing their own research - tightly controlled just by them, developing a set of records or a database or a book (whether paper or digital) - that they were very much in control of as one person.
More and more since the arrival of the Internet as well as FamilySearch's vision of a single collaborative database - the mind-set has been moved from a "siloed" approach to a much more collaborative / non duplicative/joint effort / and one that is living/evolving, maturing and expected to continue to exist well beyond the life of any one researcher/person - far into this new millenia.
Dont get me wrong - FamilySearch has its pain points/weak areas / areas of needed improvement. Most definitely. It is a work in progress . . . and depends on people seeing the vision of its POTENTIAL and not its current faults.
The idea of the Community - is a classic example of the joint effort of all of us working together and in creating synergy whereby together we are all much more than the sum of our parts.
We clearly need everyone here in FamilySearch - - FamilySearch Employees, a large army of Full and part time official non paid volunteers, and thousands of users here in the community from many distinct and disjoint backgrounds, people from almost every country in the world - coming together in a common cause. Focusing on what brings us together instead of focusing on what makes us different.
We need all of you who read this message -- - whether you are an official leader - or just someone who makes the conscious effort to go in and help answer questions (some of you sporadiclaly and some of you almost day in and day out - no one seeking compensation or recognition) and many with no official assigment - even (often) with no formal training. And even all of you who are simply asking the questions that you have and hoping to get an answer. EVERYONE is needed.
If only the world we live in had this same vision of coming together.
Just wanted each and everyon of you to know - we are grateful for your part in the community - and sometimes we dont thank you enough for what you do.
Working together in relationships of trust we can do miracles - and not only in the area of genealogy. and if you are someone who would like to take a more active role in the community - feel free to voice your thoughts and we can surely help you find an area of focus.
I thought this song echoed the sentiment.

Have a geat weekend! May God - or whoever/whatever you believe in - bless you in your life and your vision of your role in this world and this work - no matter your faith or philosophy or Family History goals.
There are times when
You might feel aimless
And can't see the places
Where you belong
But you will find that
There is a purpose
It's been there within you
All along
And when you're near it
You can almost hear it
It's like a symphony
Just keep listening
And pretty soon you'll start
To figure out your part
Everyone plays a piece
And there are melodies
In each one of us
Ooh it's glorious
And you will know how
To let it ring out
As you discover
Who you are
Others around you
Will start to wake up
To the sounds that are
In their hearts
It's so amazing
What we're all creating
It's like a symphony
Just keep listening
And pretty soon you'll start
To figure out your part
Everyone plays…
