I log in before I begin the search. When I click on the w/arkld: it takes me to log in page where I log in again and then it goes back to the research page and makes me start the Export over. It continues to do this. Please help.

@Sher Sher Sounds like you are using the Export Results button in Search Results from Historical Records. When you click that button, you should choose XLS if you want to open the results in Excel as you mentioned in your post. And, of course, you need to have access to Excel. I just tried it and clicked XLS. When I did, I saw that I could then open it in Excel or just save the file. Both worked. When I saved the file, it went into my Downloads folder and I was able to open it in Excel from there. All the data looks good in Excel for me.

What is your computer operating system and version? What version of Excel are you using? It could be that the data doesn't come across properly if you are using an outdated version of the software. Perhaps with additional information, we will be able to track down the problem.

I am using the Export Results button in Search Results from Historical Records. I have tried it with several different searches. I am using Excel 10 so I clicked on XLS from the drop down menu. I can get the information more readable if I make the columns bigger but I don't understand what the "score" and "arkid" columns are. Is it OK to just delete them and any other columns that have no info?

    @Sher Sher

    .

    FYI

    .

As far as I was aware ...

    .

Regarding the "Columns" for "Score" and "arkid" are concerned ...

    .

Score = may have something to do with the closeness of the "Match"

ie. the higher the "Score" the closer the "Match"

    .

[ Just my thoughts: to be honest, I would not be too concerned about it ...]

    .

arkid = the URL Address in 'FamilySearch' for the Record (ie. Source).

    ie. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:????-??? (whatever)

    .

What you 'see' in the "Spreadsheet" is a SHORTENED version of the actual URL Address in 'FamilySearch', in fact, a "Hyperlink" to the URL in 'FamilySearch.

    .

IF, you are "Signed into" the 'FamilySearch' programme; THEN, selecting the 'Hyperlink' from the "Spreadsheet" will OPEN that Record (ie. "Source") in 'FamilySearch'.

    .

    Now ...

    That said ...

    .

    Regarding "Deleting" those "Columns" ...

    .

    Personally ...

    .

I would NOT "Delete" either ...

    .

    But ...

    That said ...

    .

"Deleting" the "Score" would be no great loss ... each to their own ...

    .

    Just my thoughts.

    .
