How to secure my tree so no one can change it?
I'm more than willing to add to my tree but only if no one has the ability to change that tree.

If you don't want any changes made, go to the Genealogies section at https://www.familysearch.org/search/family-trees and follow instructions / links to add a GEDCOM file. It would not be suitable for your needs to add records to FamilySearch's Family Tree as this is a collaborative program, in which any user is free to make changes to the individuals (IDs) one adds there.

The FamilySearch FamilyTree is a single tree owned by FamilySearch and SHARED by thousands of different patrons with FS accounts. The FSFT is probably unsuitable for what you are trying to do.
However, what some folks do is to use a PC or Mac at home and link it to the FSFT via a third party application such as AncestralQuest or RootsMagic. That way you have your own private copy of your records that no one else can touch, but when changes occur in the FSFT you can still compare them to your records to see if they are valid. If they are then you can personally make the updates to your own records.

You're missing the whole premise of things
In FamilySearch - You DONT have your "own tree"
You have a single database that we all collaborate on.
So its critical to know how to work collaboratively and positively with others.
If you want your own tree that you have total control of - a third party database like Rootsmagic, Ancestry Quest etc may be be a product for you.

. . . other than what Jeff points out. . . that you do have total control over the "living people" in your tree - BUT I assume you are talking about DECEASED people - because ONLY YOU can touch/edit your living people records - so it must be the deceased people you are alluding to - which by design and intention is a shared resource.
This is a great video to understand the concept of collaborative work.
Did you start working in FS thinking it was just your OWN private tree. . . that was a mistaken assumption.

Most new (and, some old) Users/Patrons DO NOT understand the basic nature and premise of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', when they join in.

Please let me explain ...

We do not have our OWN "Tree" in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.
.
We ONLY have "Branches" (ie. Ancestral" lines), that are interconnected, in this SINGLE "One" World "Tree", for all of us, that is "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is NOT like 'On-Line' "Websites" (eg. "Ancestry_com"; or "MyHeritage_com"; or, the like); and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes (eg, the OLD, now no longer supported, "PAF"; or, "Ancestral Quest"; or, the like).

We DO NOT have "Private"/"Personal" 'Trees' in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' like other 'On-Line' "Websites"; and/or, 'standalone' personal (computer) programmes.

We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

And, in fact, we do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, our OWN "Deceased" Ancestors in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

We can certainly "Watch"/"Follow" them in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; and, address/fix any 'wayward' alterations; but, that is it.

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why any registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

There is one thing that you can do ...

You can "Watch"/"Follow" your "Ancestral" lines; and, IMMEDIATELY, address/fix any ('wayward') "Changes", as they occur, by 'well meaning' Users/Patrons.

I check my "Watch" List/those that I am "Following", at least once or twice, each Day, to keep on top.

Many Users/Patrons, who use "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', STILL maintain their own SEPARATE personal/private "Database(s)" of their "Ancestral" lines, well away from "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; so that, they CANNOT be access by other people.

I know that this does not help; but, I hope this gives you some more perspective.
