Can there be some way to comment on a post in the feed?

Biggest thing that I see as a problem in this new Community is that folks have to click into a post to respond and then find a way back out to the Feed to see the next post. Every other social media system that I've used, including the old community, allows us to comment in the Feed. That just may be something that still needs to be done, but where people are used to that, having to click at least three extra clicks in order to post a comment is probably going to make people less likely to comment. Especially, since there is no obvious way back to where you were in the Feed. When I am looking at a message in a group, the banner is not a link back to the group. Nor is the Title at the top. To all intents it looks as if there is no way to go back to the group I was looking at.

I did find that at the bottom of the comment block, there is a hyperlinked title to get back to the group.

However it takes me back to the top of the group, instead of where I was in the list, and if you are adding to a post with several comments, it could take some scrolling to get to it.

  1. Can the banner be hyperlinked back to the group? (I think this is the most obvious one that everyone will click on!)
  2. Can the title at the top be hyperlinked back to the group? ('Groups' is hyperlinked, why not the group that this is from?)
  3. Can at least one of these three hyperlinks take me back to where I was in the feed of that group?

This is one we would like to get too. The tool will not currently allow for this, but are hoping it will in the future.

    I agree

its nowhere nearly as intuitive as it needs to be as to replies.

I totally agree with Anne & Sheila

But I also remember sort of related issue on the OLD community

it was related to how we had "READ COUNTS" for each post

and everyone realized the READ counts were totally useless - because people could read an item without actually opening it up fully. - which never got counted as a "READ".

so no matter what is done here - see if the solution can retain an accurate READ COUNT.

BUT Yeh here in the NEW community - the ability to REPLY needs to be more "in your face"

Anne, there are variations of this same type of problem all over the FS website (including the FSFT as well). Typically the way around this would be to use the normal Browser capabilities of opening the post in a new tab or window. For example, in Safari, I just hold down my "command" key when I click on the link for the post and it opens in a new tab. When I'm done I just delete the tab. It's fast and doesn't effect the original page too much (although in some cases FS seems to be forcing a refresh when you go back to the original tab which can not only move you to the top of the page sometimes, but it can blow away any text that you were entering when you went to the new tab)

Note that in some places, FS has screwed this up by DISABLING the browser's normal "open in new tab" function. However, in this situation I don't think that that is the case.
