When you click on the FIND feature, it would be great if the cursor landed in the first field box, whether on Find By Name or Find by ID. Not a big deal, but it would be nice. Thanks for all the great work you all do for everyone!

When using Find, and then selecting find by ID it used to hold that selection until you then searched by name. It is a bid annoying that it no longer does that. It would be nice to have the ability to change the default so you could set it to always use Find by ID, or Find by Name

I set up a shortcut a very long time ago and it still opens the Find function where I set it -- Find by ID. Find by ID

This new change has several problems. As already noted, the default position is always "Find by Name." Before if one chose "Find by ID" it would become the default for the next search. The second problem is when the user selects "Find by ID" the entry box, "Ancestor ID" but the cursor remains outside the box. So it takes another click to get the cursor in the box before one can either type or past the ID. Before if one chose Find by ID the cursor was put in the box so that the typing or pasting could immediately begin. The same was true for "Find by Name." When chosen, the cursor was put in the "First Names" box so that typing could immediately begin. So how many searches are done each day, or year. For every search in "Find by name" it will take and extra mouse movement and click to place the cursor in the "First Names" box. For every search in "Find by ID" it will take a click to select it and then a mouse movement and click to place the cursor in the "Ancestor ID" box. I thought it was a common sense rule was that good programming always reduced clicks and mouse movement to improve the user's efficiency. This programming change did neither. It should be fixed quickly, PLEASE!

Yes it is important to me that the focus be on the input box as suggested. Also the latest find screen brings up find by name as the default whereas the old screen came up with the last used find s the default. ie if I search by ID in the last search that becomes the default for my future searches. And then of course the focus is already to the input box so I just need to ctrl + v and I am off on the search. Thanks for all you are doing in FamilySearch.
