Is this not working properly. I added a label, so where do I see it?
Step "9" in the instructions reads:
To sort your Following list by label, follow these steps:
- Scroll to the top of the list, and click Options.
- In the Filter by Label section, click the label you want.
I don't see "Filter by Label". Please explain if I am missing something.

In Options, Select (People)
not (All Changes)
Labels will show at the bottom

Are you sure this is not a gradual roll-out to users, as in the past. I've added a label to an individual and saved, but still can't see where it has been attached - nor any option to "Filter by Label".

After you add a label is appears under the persons name that you are following. If you have added the same labels to several different people under the options button you can use the filter to only show the persons who have that label attached to them. You can also add a note that only you can see if you need a reminder on something pertaining to that person. You can also create your own custom labels and name them if the system labels don't fit your need.

You say, "After you add a label it appears under the persons name you are following."
A screenshot would be most appreciated to illustrate. This is the only way I can see a label has been added. Again, am I missing something, or is this it?
From the advice from berthearle, where do I see "Labels" ("at the bottom") under "People"?

Thank you Jessie. The only part of the process I had not followed was the click on "Save Label". His being the first ID I had tried this on is why - as well as a label not being attached to Andrew Wood - I didn't have the "Filter By Label" option at the bottom of the page! (See my screenshot - I had created the "Ancestor" label, but not realised I had not attached it to Andrew, or anybody.)

Thank you so much for the labels on the following list it is amazing, I love that there are some already made and that you can add your own unique ones.

Jessie or Bryce
Could you please confirm that the maximum number of labels I can create is 10?
Also, any chance of an increase in the maximum of 20 characters (including spaces) for a label title? Those characters are soon used up, even a relatively short description.

Paul, there are 8 labels predefined by FamilySearch (and 2 additional temple related labels for member accounts)
Users have the option to create 10 additional labels unique to their own account.
You are correct that only 20 characters are available for the label itself, but 3000 characters are available in the optional notes field.
You may also use special or emoji characters if your keyboard allows you to input, which may allow you to shorten the label title.

Thank you! Thank you! Instead of having to type in the name again after I have requested to label someone I want to follow, it just goes right to the person now. This will save hours for me. I spend all day when I'm not in the temple on family search. Again, thank you for fixing the extra unnecessary step.
