I gather you are referring to having the "Event" of "Divorce", appear UNDER an "Event" for "Marriage", in the "Family Members" Section UNDER each "Couple", where applicable.

You are not alone.

.

Firstly ...

.

There has been much discussion and debate, over the YEARS, in the forerunner to this current (New) "IDEAS" forum, being the OLD 'FamilySearch' ("GetSatisfaction") 'Feedback' Forum regarding this; and, similar in nature (ie. A "Divorce" INDICATOR ).

.

Secondly ...

.

We have been advised, over the same period, by "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives" that there is currently (which has been for some time) 'ongoing' development and design work (and, also coding) in regard to the "Couple" Relationships - what you might say, will be almost, a 'revamp'.

.

Thirdly ...

.

Some, of the PARTS of the aforementioned 'revamp', has already been implemented ...

.

There have been some "Modifications"/"Additions" to the "Couple" Relationships recently.

.

eg.

- Ability to have "Same Gender" Relationships; and,

- Addition of the Relationship "Event" of "Lived Together"; and,

- Addition of "Relationship Facts"; BUT, ONLY one so far, of "No Children".

.

Just the aforementioned, are MAJOR changes to the System; and, took much time to, develop; and, design; and, code, for.

.

Hopefully, there is much more to come forth in due time ...

.

It is NEVER as simple or as easy ... as most of us think.

Now ...

That said ...

At this current juncture, in time ...

.

You simply add the "Event" of "Divorce", under the "Relationship Events" sub-section, under the "Couple Relationship" Section - but, that is not all.

.

You can also "Document" the "Divorce" by adding "Notes" [eg. to the effect of the "Divorce" in this particular "Couple Relationship"], everywhere you can, for, both, individuals; and, in their Couple relationship

ie.

Individuals =

- Life Sketch;

- Other Information - (Custom) Fact;

- Collaboration - (BOTH in) Notes and Discussions

... (the latter cannot be "Deleted" by Other Users/Patrons)

COUPLE =

- Relationship Notes.

Oversimplified, I know; but, I hope you 'get my drift '...

.

Hopefully, in the future we will have, either, the "Event" of "Divorce", appear UNDER an "Event" for "Marriage", in the "Family Members" Section UNDER each "Couple"; OR, in the least, a "Divorce" INDICATOR, appearing in the "Family Members" Section UNDER each "Couple", where applicable.

'Food for thought' ...

The REAL problem/issue is there are SOME "Couples" that have, "Married"; "Divorced"; and, "Re-Married", again. And, even some "Couples" who have done that more than just once - that is something that would be difficult to Programme/Code for, not to mention the "Limited" amount of "Space" for such cases to appear/be recorded.

But ...

For now ...

We just have to work with what we have got ...

Certainly, NOT ideal ...

But, at least, it sort of works ...

Brett is right. Adding another line only solves a small part of the problem and actually can complicate other items. That whole area needs reformatting so that any given couple relationship can show multiple Relationship type events.

If you haven't already noticed, the timelines do not show all events either. As a result you can't do simple checks like verifying that a divorce to a previous husband actually occurred before a subsequent marriage.
