Opening Unlocked Files?

Shelly Poling Cinnamon said: It would be gracious if the Church would allow FamilySearch to open it's locked files since we have no access to any Family History Centers for the duration of the Coronovirus pandemic.

    A van Helsdingen said: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has nothing to do with this situation. Contracts between FS and the record owners and commercial partners of FS set the conditions of access to records. FS would need to negotiate temporary contracts to be able to relax access conditions. This might be possible for larger records sets- e.g. UK censuses, but would take years to achieve for all of the smaller record sets.
