Option To Index A Number That Represents The Month Of The Year

Marla J. Pulsipher said: I would like to be able to have the option to fill in the month of a year when indexing by having the option of using a number, such as 1 for January as well as the first 3 letters of the month of the year as we are able to do now. Thank you

    Jordi Kloosterboer said: The most likely reason they do not allow for numbers instead of the three letter version is to avoid ambiguity. Because 1-2-2020 can mean two different things-- 1 Feb 2020 and 2 Jan 2020. So, unless they convert back to worded out month names after writing out the number, they should not do that.

    Paul said: I've already seen this - e.g. 4 1950 - but forget in which indexed collection. Again, this is as much down to the instructions relating to different projects. Personally, I don't like this form of date as it could mean "4th quarter" of the year instead of April.

    Another confusing part about having a number for a month is: 23/11/1707 is not the 23rd of Nov but rather is the 23rd of Feb 1707 in most English and American churches at the time.
