adding titles to names in Family Tree

I assumed that these titles would not print on the temple card, but they did. I want these titles to be connected to the names, as it helps to identify these people, but my understanding is that ordinances should not be performed with titles. First, am I using this field correctly? If I am, can this field in the names template be changed so that it does not print on Temple cards?
There also appears to be a problem with the code because there is no black line separating any of the names such as given and family name on these particular Temple cards where titles are used as there are on my other cards. Is this intended?

On Family Tree you need to click on the person's name on the Person's Page in the Vital Information Section. See Edit. Click on it and you'll see the name parts.
There is a field for a title like Reverend, Lord, Duke, etc. Then a field for first and middle names, then a field for surname/last name, then a field for Suffixes like Jr, Sr. Make sure you've got the name parts in the correct fields and then it will print out as it should on the temple card.
I would un-reserve those cards, and re-reserve them, fixing the name. The lines should appear correctly if the name parts are in the correct fields. If not, report this to Feedback/Support. But rewrite the name first.0 -
Lois Francis said: Thanks Cathy,
The names are entered in the fields correctly, but are not appearing correctly on the temple cards. I have printed cards like this before and never had this error and so I am puzzled as to why it doesn't work now. I have contacted Family Search Support.0 -
Cathy Anderegg said: Ya, then there is some bug. You might try deleting cache and cookies, switching browsers to Chrome or Firefox, to see if an external (other than Family Tree) problem exists. Sometimes we've seen Internet Explorer do weird things with pdf documents for example.
And it may be a printer problem. Where are you printing cards? In a temple or FH Center/Library?
Or ... it just might be a bug in Family Tree and if you've already got a Support Case, you will get an answer. If the first Support responders don't give you a satisfactory answer, re-send in the case. Keep at it until you "get satisfaction." Ha!0 -

Angelo Longo said: I agree with you Lois, in my opinion titles should be avoided in temple work, so I suggest to just remove them automatically in the card printing process because they are always present in my cards. At least it should be sure they are kept separate from the first names to distinguish them (it's been a problem with workers speaking a different language in my Temple) if we have to include titles when we have to read the full name. I think that is not the case, but if it is it should be clearly stated, because some temple workers read them, while others suggested me not to print them (FamilySearch does it)!
I'd also add that titles are essential if FamilySearch wants to keep the ambition to have the main World Family Tree based on scholarly historical research methods. Titles had the utmost importance in the past (and often even today), as records give us evidence. Not include titles in names would then be also unfair to history and put people out of the social context they where living in.0 -
Tom Huber said: Generally speaking, the name that is printed on the ordinance card is the name that was entered into the Vitals section.
The only time a title should appear in the vitals section is when it is part the name given at birth.
If the relative had a title, the enter the name with the title as an “also known as”, which is not used when the system prints an ordinance card...0 -
Angelo Longo said: Thank you brother, from now on I will use “Also Known As” in the “Other Information” section to add titles not present at birth.0
