Updating Wiki page relating to Northumberland Non-Conformist Church Records

Paul said: I have reported the problem of the collection in question also including many records for Anglican churches in neighbouring County Durham. As I do not see this matter being addressed any time soon, I have added a comment to the Wiki page. However, judging by my past efforts, this is likely to be deleted by a FamilySearch employee, in spite of my being given editing rights! I hope not, and believe the main solution is in re-examining / correcting the collection title relating to where these records actually belong. Let's see if I'm allowed to give helpful advice on this occasion.

FamilySearch Moderator said: Paul, we have passed your prior comments on this collection to the appropriate employees, and they have reported back that they are investigating. I would assume that when they are done their recommended actions will be made known, with explanation if necessary. Let's wait and see what they decide.
As for the Wiki, it is meant to be edited. If edits are removed or changed they are supposed to give reasons why. If that happens please address it with the moderators of the Wiki. Thank you!0 -
Paul said: Thank you for that prompt response. My remarks here partly relate to the disappointing treatment I felt I received on the previous occasion when I attempted to add helpful detail to a Wiki page. My comments were removed without my being given any explanation of why they were considered inappropriate.
The actual problem I have reported on this Wiki page is causing me lots of problems at the moment. Suddenly, I have had many sources appearing as Record Hints on pages relating to my relatives. The dates all match my previous research and indeed those on other FamilySearch sources, already attached. Unfortunately, the newly added sources mention "Northumberland" as the place where the events took place, whereas I have found most of those relating to my relatives actually took place in Anglican (not even non-conformist) churches in Sunderland, which was in the county of Durham.
Obviously, I am most unhappy with attaching sources that contain information that is not only vague (no parish indicated) but not even correct - wrong county and not non-conformist records.
Thank you again for your assurance this matter is being examined.0 -

Erm yeah. The problem in the past has been removal by moderators of the wiki for reasons that are not in line with the published policies on the wiki. So addressing it to the moderators of the wiki doesn't exactly inspire confidence.0 -

A van Helsdingen said: As someone who has also had edits removed and has discussed this with senior wiki editors/moderators, I would say the problem is a lack of clarity about the rules of the wiki. For example, some pages have been carefully planned and formatted by FHL Staff. If you try to edit those pages, they understandably are upset that their hard work is being edited. I have no issue with that, but that needs to be communicated. The whole point of a "Wiki" is that anyone can edit, and that all good edits are encouraged.
Second are the issues around mentioning certain details relating to historical record collections. There should be a clear written policy about what details can not be published on the Wiki. Anything not mentioned in this policy should be permitted, unless it violates other rules (e.g. copyright, relevance to genealogy)0 -
