We need a Dark Mode option for all pages in FamilySearch.org, accessed thru settings, now.

Tom Huber said: From what I’ve read on the topic of dark mode, it is not a function of a website. It is a browser/operating system setting.

I could be wrong, but very few of us are likely to use the feature.

ATP said: Yes, it is a personalization of a device display settings, not a website.

Jordi Kloosterboer said: The website can be made to look like whatever with CSS. With the toggle of a button, the website can change looks (it doesn't have to be dark, it could be blue or whatever). It does not have to do with anything the system says or the browser (but it can too...). But that is besides the point, FamilySearch will probably not invest in this at least for a few years if at all in the near future.

Jeff Wiseman said: Unless, of course, the programmers for the website have overridden generic operations of browsers on the website. There are operations on the FS website that, although typically available to browser users elsewhere, have been disabled and customized for whatever purposes.

joe martel said: Dark Mode is a function of the browser and the website. If you set to dark mode you'll see many sites have not coded for it. Likewise for FamilySearch pages.

The site is being incrementally upgraded using a new code stack and you'll see the site pages slowly roll out on that new stack. Part of the design on this new stack has consideration for Dark mode, but each component will have to be coded for that. As you can guess, that takes resources, so there will likely be give and take as to what teams and what pages have time to code for dark mode.
