Because the non-LDS patrons here at the FamilySearch "Family Tree" do not have free access to some of the World War I, and almost all of the World War II sources, that are housed at ancestry.com. See related "Feedback."

FamilySearch personnel read every discussion thread and may or may not respond as their time permits. We all share an active interest in using the resources of this site and as users, we have various levels of knowledge and experience and do our best to help each other with concerns, issues, and/or questions.

I suspect that if a person lived in Europe at the time of those events, that they would show up. The historical events seem to be oriented toward where the person lived at the time.

For instance, my father and his parents lived in Seattle and on their timeline, two event specific to Seattle are among the Historical events on their timeline.

Tom Huber said: I agree. For it to show up, you would have to have at least a Residence entry in the area where the war was fought. FamilySearch is weak on military service records and as such, you would need to find those records on another site, such as Fold3, which is now part of Ancestry.com.
