Larry Dean Andrew said: It is nice to edit places so that the standardized name can be used. However, I have found this option to be very inconsistent. It seems like I can update the location on the first person (ie, first child), but on additional children, the edit option is not available.

I wish we could have an edit button or option on each source, so I can update the information on other sources I've gotten from other programs. That would save me a lot of time. At this point, when I cannot edit an existing hint before attaching the source, I have to attach the source, go to the original entry and update + save the information.

Please consider an option to allow editing of information. I would not be changing the original information, but only the information to be saved in the current entry.

Thanks for all you do.
It's getting better all the time.
I'm just trying to maximize time and efficiency.

Paul said: Actually, it is probably better to go back to the person page to do the editing. There you can see if the place name is a standard one - it usually isn't in the case of the census records I come across. Also, if you click on a "standardized" name you will often find the program has chosen the "wrong standard". It might look okay, but click on some places and you find that the standardised place is for a town of the same name on the other side of the world!

In the case of non-standard places in the Residence field I'm afraid I just leave them, as there would not be enough hours in the day to put them all right. Another problem involves the recent change that allows users to carry TWO residences across: one for the name of the city/town and the other for just a street name. I have requested this issue to be addressed (in another thread) as certainly all of these will carry a data problem (red exclamation mark) warning.
