Under the current policy, you are only allowed to request ordinances under the 110 year rule if you are a relative. If you are not one of the close living relatives, then you have to get permission. But under the getting permission there are two cases. Either you get permission or there are no living close relatives to give permission. Now my suggested change. When you first request permission, the first page that comes up has a brief policy statement and then the selection of "I have Permission" That leaves me in a dilemma if there are no living close relatives to provide permission. What do I do? Right now the answer is, just say you have permission and get on with the form. My suggestion is that either the choice be reworded to say "I have permission or there are no close living relatives" Or there could be two choices, "I have permission" and "No close living relatives" I like the two choice option the best. Thanks

Wayland said: Ron, The problem is the first page that comes up when you request ordinances within the 110 years doesn't have a choice for No Close Living Relatives. It only has a choice for "I have permission" or cancel. If there are no close living relatives, then you don't have permission but the only choice is "I have permission" Image 1 is the ordinances page where you request ordinances. Image 2 is what you get when you request ordinances.

The "Permission" is NOT the problem/issue, here.

In fact; IF, you select you have "I Have Permission" (BECAUSE, there are NO Close "Living" Relatives - as; they are all 'Dead'); then, it takes you to the NEXT page/screen in the "Process", where you indicate that there are NO Close "Living" Relatives.

The problem/issue is that, if ALL the Close "Living" Relatives ARE "Dead", as evidenced by the 'Pedigree' (ie. the "System"), provided they are entered into the "System"; then, there is NO need for that "I Have Permission" page/screen to appear, it SHOULD bypass that and take you straight to NEXT pages/screens in the "Process".

Many Users/Patrons "baulk" at that 'hurdle'; and, DO NOT, go any further ...

The OTHER real problem/issue is that; IF, you are NOT related (according to "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch"); then, even if you proceed past that "I Have Permission" page/screen; and, go through the "Process", it is not until you get to the NEXT pages/screens, that you are REJECTED; because, you are NOT related (according to "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch").

The "System" should NOT even take you to the "I Have Permission" page/screen; and/or, the NEXT pages/screens in the "Process"; IF, you are NOT related (according to "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch").

Whereas, "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" considers that you am NOT related; but, in many cases you can prove that you are related in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" through the use of "RelativeFinder.org", which 'digs' a lot deeper.

    Just my take.
