Can you please view this record and help me to understand why some boxes are green and some are blue and why I would want to reserve a name that is already reserved? Thanks a bunch!!! Richard

I assume that you see a blue box beside Sealing to Spouse.
Green means "Go to the Temple." Any green box means that that ordinance is ready to be taken to the temple to complete the work.
Blue means "In Progress," that someone is working on completing the ordinance.
But context does matter.
If the green box just says "Request" next to it, that means that you can reserve that ordinance and you have two years to complete the work before it is automatically shared with the temple.
If the green box says "Request" and has the notation that another patron reserved the name and shared it with temple, then you can take that ordinance and you have 90 days to complete it or your card expires and the name returns to where it was in the temple queue. During that 90 days, the reservation looks like this:
You see a blue box next to SS because you reserved that ordinance and shared it with the temple. So as far as you are concerned, you are done with this and the work is in progress via the temple queue. You can change your mind and pull it back into your personal reservation list.
So why would you want to request an ordinance that has already been reserved? Because you want to get these ordinances completed. You can now just click "Request" print out a card for E and SP and a card for SS and go to the temple and complete all of them. You don't have to wait for them to just eventually get done.
(There are plenty of posts here that discuss that it may not have been a great idea to have green mean two different things. You may want to read through some of them.)0 -
Jeff Wiseman said: Richard,
Gordon covered it pretty good. But the main idea is this:
- If an icon IS Green, you can request that ordinance and take it to the temple.
- If an icon is NOT Green, you canNOT request and take that ordinance to the temple.
The color of a non-Green icon simply gives you an idea of why YOU SPECIFICALLY cannot request and take that ordinance to the temple. For example, a Blue icon means that someone else is processing it somewhere. Someone else may have requested the ordinance, or a temple may have printed it out for use by one of their patrons, etc.0

JimGreene said: Thanks Gordon, to also means that families have greater access to their own family's ordinances and don't have to get a random name at the temple when they go. We have found and experienced a deeper more spiritual experience when we know we are related.0
