Tom Huber said: For most of us, 15 generations is often too far. The problem is that in some of those cases, there are some really badly-messed-up records, complete with alternate dates and places, even for vitals.

    As an aside ...

In relation to your post ...

I would suggest that a relationship finder that digs deeper than just 15 generations. that you might are looking for, is a free programme that was developed and is maintained by/through the "Family History Technology Lab" of "Brigham Young University" ( BYU ) that is, Partnered with; and, "Certified" by, "FamilySearch", called, just that, "Relative Finder" ( https://www.relativefinder.org/ ).

    https://www.relativefinder.org/#/main

( BYU ) "RelativeFinder.org" is a GREAT supplemental Tool to use in conjunction with "Family Tree" of :FamilySearch" and has many 'bells and whistles', if you have not, try it out, you will be surprised and amazed.

I would be surprised if you did not find an "Option" or two to your liking in ( BYU ) "RelativeFinder.org".

And, ( BYU ) "RelativeFinder.org" digs a lot more comprehensively than "FamilySearch" does, even within the 15 generations.

    Enjoy.

    I hope this helps.

David Newton said: Yep. 15 generations allows 7 each way plus one. 6th cousins once removed will be found by it. I don't think people have a comprehension of just how distant a relation that is or how many of them you will have. 6th cousins will have a common ancestor of 5th great grandparents. That's 128 separate direct ancestors (assuming no pedigree collapse).

Do I know who all of those people are in my tree? Certainly not. I therefore can have no idea how many 6th cousins I have. If I don't know that then there's no way that the average user of this site will.

In my case, I can't get more than 13 generations.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum"

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    You are not alone.

    MANY cannot.

In fact, MANY cannot even get back that far.

    Truly ...

IF, you can get back some x15 Generations; THEN, consider yourself one of the 'lucky' ones.

All you can do is keep plodding along, hope fully the 'Brick Walls' will come down.

    Just my thoughts.

    As an aside ...

IF, you have not already; THEN, ...

Can I humbly suggest that a place where you MAY possibly be able to extend your generations, if you are lucky, may be through (BYU) "RelativeFinder".

And, it is simple, just a matter of "Signing In", with the credentials of your 'FamilySearch' Account; accepting the "Conditions"; and, the "Connection" between "FamilySearch' and (BYU) "RelativeFinder"; which, then becomes a "Partner" Account, that is "Connect" to 'FamilySearch.

(BYU) "RelativeFinder" digs (pun intended) a lot DEEPER in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch', than 'FamilySearch' does.

(BYU) "RelativeFinder" is one of the "Third Party" Applications that "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

BYU = Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, USA (ie. the Church University).

From the "Family History Technology Laboratory", of the "Computer Science" Department.

Here is direct link to "RelativeFibder"

"RelativeFinder" has MANY 'Bells and Whistles', that you might find useful.

Apart from "Famous People" and "Others" ...

(BYU) "RelativeFinder" has some interesting options ...

There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between yourself and a "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

User: "User: "Relative Finder _ BYU _ Connect Yourself with a Deceased.jpg""

There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between two (x2) "Deceased" individuals/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

User: "User: "Relative Finder _ BYU _ Connect Two Deceased.jpg""

There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between ("Living" - Users/Patrons) Friends in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

User: "User: "Relative Finder _ BYU _ Connect with Friends.jpg""

    Magic.

    Enjoy.

As I suggested, yo MAY be able to extend your generations ...

    Of course, you may not.

    Just a thought.

    Good Luck.

I hope this might help, somewhat.
