Private emails

Edward Jay Gaudette said: I understand that some folks don't like the idea that their email address may become public. I can appreciate that, but often if I have a document that is different then what someone else has I would like to know who has the correct information. It concerns me when I cannot find an email address to discuss the situation.
My suggestion is that an email address be provided to Family Search by everyone. With the choice to mark it public or private. With any private email somehow we are allowed to send an email to that person though family search.

    What has been suggested multiple times, and I think will eventually happen, is that an IM (Internal Messaging) system will be put into place, where you don't use email. I'm not sure how it works. But the folks can talk back and forth to each other.

    I think bigger issues will have to be handled and solved first.

    My FamilySearch settings are showing my email address as private. However when I click on my name in "Feedback" it is showing my email address. Could FamilySearch "Support" correct this problem? I tried correcting the problem and the system will not let me.

    Hey, it 'Brett' ... of the OLD "GetSatisfaction" Days ...

    IF, you are referring, to YOU, 'seeing' your "E-mail" Address, in your "Profile", in the "Comminity.FamilySearch" Forum; THEN, there is NO need to worry ▬ 'Yes', YOU can 'see' it; but, OTHER Participants (ie. Users/Patrons) CANNOT; even, when they 'look' at your "Profile".

    Believe me ...

    When I was helping, in doing some "Testing", in the later stages, of the 'Development', of the CURRENT Platform, of the Forum, I noticed; and, raised the matter - that got addressed/fixed; before, going "Live" in the Production Environment ▬ I made sure of that.

    [ Along with the "E-mail" Address, there was originally also a problem/issue with our "User Name" being used/displayed, instead of our "Contact Name" ▬ I got that addressed/fixed; as, well ]
