Elba Township is an island?
Elba Township, Gratiot County, Michigan shows two entries. Up to 1837 it was a township in the territory and then after that year it is listed as "Island(s)" in the state. This seems a mistake.

Looks like this place type needs to be corrected to a township. Some of the citations mention a township. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

That's interesting about Gratiot County resources here but it doesn't answer the question of why a township that appears as a square on the maps and only has a river or two flowing through it and locaated in the center of the state is listed as an island. Looking at the map I see no body of water surrounding the township.
