A grandfather changed his birth name shortly after getting married
How do I log this change so both names are searched & provide hints
Entry by second name shows date that may be date of conversion
It is clearly not birth date

    @David'43 David'43

    .

    David

    .

In the "Other Information" Section ...

    .

ADD the "Changed" Name; as, an "Alternate Name", under the "Other Information" Section.

    .

That way, the "Changed" Name will ALSO be,

    (1) searched, when "Searching"; and,

    (2) available for "Hints".

    .

    I hope this helps.

Here is a link that will answer your question.

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-enter-my-ancestors-name-if-it-changed

The name in the Vitals section and the names in the Other Information section are both used in record hint connecting, I believe.

Here's a link to an informative article on Record Hints.

    https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/How_to_Use_"Record_Hints"

    Good luck!
