I am not sure what is happening in this family.

I am not sure what is happening in this family.

Franciska Plass is having children in 1826, 1849 (Twins), and 1852. No father is shown in the record.

My question is: “Would the church records not show a father if it did not recognize a “marriage” for the mother?”

Here is a blog on illegitimate children: http://czechgenealogy.nase-koreny.cz/2013/04/illegitimate-children.html#more. Usually they don't show the father's name. It might be mentioned if the marriage was legitimized.

Thank for the information on illegitimacy. The whole situation is very complicated.

It helps me understand why Franciska’s sister Barbara. :

    ·       Had a child, Josef, in 1854 with a father shown.  (last child on page) http://www.portafontium.eu/iipimage/30064574/krsy-15_0150-n

    ·       Had another child, Theresia, in 1856 with NO father shown. (First child on page)  http://www.portafontium.eu/iipimage/30064574/krsy-15_0220

    ·       In 1871 she married the father of her first child. (Last marriage of page) http://www.portafontium.eu/iipimage/30071583/krsy-41_0070-o
