If a living individual quietly agrees with the temple president to. (in order to avoid hurt feelings), be sealed to his stepfather and biological mother, can he later be sealed to his biological parents after both have been deceased?

The simple answer is Yes. I have a son who will be sealed to his stepfather and myself and he can also be sealed to his biological father and myself on my death.

And I am sealed to my mother and father.

Leaving it all to be decided later.

I am assuming here, in the first part, that you are referring to "Living" Work.

You could do the same in the latter part, if it also related to "Living" Work; but, you would have to do so in private; so as, as you say, "in order to avoid hurt feelings".

In fact, you should seek direction and counsel from (ie. you should discuss this directly with) your local Priesthood Leaders, being your, Bishop (or, Branch President); and, Stake (or, District) President (or, a member of the Stake/District Presidency); and, (local) Temple President (or, a member of the Temple Presidency).

That is interesting Carol. I would not have supposed that. Since the sealing ordinance belongs to the child, it seems rather odd that a single living person could be sealed to 2 sets of parents (even though they are deceased) without some specific kind of authorization.

Thank you all for your responses, I could not find a way in family tree to add this to my temple list. I am wondering if this will be left up to my children after I am gone, or does it require some authorization? At my stepdad and moms ceiling in the temple after, many years of inactivity, it would have been uncomfortable for my sister and I not to have been sealed to them at the time, thus the question to the temple president.

On second thought, I don't think there will be any compulsion as to which surname we should choose to follow when we get there.
