How can I keep trace of registers I go trough in an efficient way?

Sometimes I have problems in keeping trace about the registers I analyze for a person, so I'm sure I go through the same register two times. I use a paper where I wrote the registers I saw, but sometimes I forget to write something and in this way I put a lot of time in writing information I could even lose. Which is the best method I can follow? Are there functionalities in FS tree I can use for that or even other softwares? Many thanks!

Is this in reference to "Indexing"?

Thank you @Dennis J Yancey ! My question is related in particular in research into the FS catalog when documents have not been indexed yet. Regards

I just have no idea what you are referring to as to "trace registers"

you should be able to download the entire image to your local computer - and not lose anything

You can also use a Word processor - for any note taking.

Sorry Dennis but my English is not so good, I used the wrong verb, the correct one is "keep trace". Thank you

I believe the question is "how do I keep track of which registers/records I've already looked through?".

Dear @Julia Szent-Györgyi many thanks the question you wrote is the right question! In other words it could be also "Is it possible to have a log of my researches directly in my FS tree"? If not are there some other valid alternatives? Regards

I would use some sort of Research LOG

to keep track of your research on line
