Where do I go when I can't find a child registered in the time around the baptism?
A man/men named Daniel Davies in the Llangyfelach was/were married to two different Mary's in that parish--one was Mary Hughes (27 Sep 1822) and the other was Mary Jenkins (1 Aug 1818). In 1841 there is a Daniel and Mary Davies who are on the farm at Abergwenlais with five children, including their two children who have baptism records in Llandilo-Talybont Parish. The last child was baptized in 1840. From what I thought, this parish was in the Swansea Registration District at that time.
I have gone through the GRO using that baptism information +/-2 years (even back to 1837) and looking for a mother's maiden name of Hughes or Jenkins and have found several for the time period but nothing that matched. I have written to the Swansea Registrar with my information and they have found nothing that matched; and they suggested I contact Carmarthenshire as the Hamlet of Gwenlais has been moved to that jurisdiction. I just sent an email to Carmarthenshire Registrar.
Do you have any other suggestions?

It sounds like you are trying to verify the maiden surname of the mother of the children born at or living at Abergwenlais farm in Llandilo Talybont parish, is that correct?

It looks like there may be one or two options but it will be best to wait until you get a response from the Carmarthenshire Registrar.
