I have seen infants in the census where their age is listed as 1/12 (for example). I know this means they are 1 month old. Today I saw in a census an infant's age was given as 14/30. What age is this? I am including a screenshot of the census.

That was an interesting census to browse. I'm sticking with my original thought that the infant McIntosh is 14 days old at census time. This state census was done in September 1880 which is odd, since the federal census was in June of 1880. It looks like the enumerator listed babes under one month with the _/30 fraction. I saw it 2 other times in that census book. Those babes over one month had the usual fraction of _/12.

@sharonfortnerwright Could you share a link to the entire document? I'd like to take a look at the whole page. The Infant McIntosh could be 14 days old. If I could look at the entire document and other pages around it, that could confirm how this enumerator entered ages.

I've never seen this before, but I'd agree, 14 days.
