I believe that the bride's birth place could be Kristiansand (Vest Agder). See this 1865 census index for Evje parish: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/census/person/pf01038169004203 . The bride's name in the marriage record appears to be "Maren" but could possibly be "Karen". Also, see this birth record which shows a child, Tellef, born in 1867 to Torje Tellefsen and Karen Gurine Olsdatter: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/9452/53 .

Thanks for the help. Want to take a stab at the second part of my question?

I'm wondering what you are looking for with these two posts? It does not appear that the Karen Gurine's in the two entries are the same lady.

To jmartinekenes: I looked for a long time in and around Evje parish and couldn't figure what the father's place was. It may be someplace in Kristiansand but I didn't spend time looking there.
To Clifford: What makes you think the Karens are not the same person?

The Karen born in Tveit has father Ole Olsen and the brides father is Ole Ellefsen. Is there some evidence that the girl from Tveit moves to Evje?

I think there is a bit of confusion in these 2 posts of jmartinekenes. You are correct that they are two different people. My 2 answers to jmartinekenes' second question (this post) are, I am sure, the same Karen Gurine Olsdatter (born in Kristiansand) but not the same Karen Gurine born in Tveit. I hope that makes some kind of sense:)

Yes Norman I was confused. :-)
I do see now that you meant the Maren in the marriage record and the Karen in the census were the same person and I agree completely. Jan Martin Ekenes has a public tree at Ancestry and his Ekenes comes from Dypvåg in Aust-Agder so likely he has a connection to one of these Karen Gurine Olsdatters or he was looking for a Karen Gurine Olsdatter born about 1843 and these two are candidates, etc.
So I was just hoping to hear what Jan Martin's objective was as opposed to just trying to transcribe the records he is looking at. Probably I'm just too nosy :-)

Clifford and Norman,
Thanks so much for your interest and help. I'm not just transcribing records. I'm unraveling family mysteries.
