1,000 is the max that you can hook to one specific person
but at the gallery level (the number of items at the account level) there really is no limit - - I have gone as high as 20,000 testing the limits. After you get to about 12,000 the system really slows down though.
At the album level - though there technically is no limit - the effective limit is also 1,000 because after that even if you load more - you wont be able to see them if you display the contents of the album.
