Brick wall! Help! Need birth place and parents if possible.

German birth name believed to be Balthasar Engel (known in U.S records as Paulser Ingle) b. 1735 Germany . Immigrated to U.S circa 1776. Died in Tuscaloosa Alabama 1823. Sons born in Germany Jacob b. 1760. Peter b. 1761. Joseph b. 1761.

On Geni someone posted that he was from Trebur, Darmstadt-Hesse, but I cannot confirm this.

Let's move this question to the @Germany Genealogy Research group.

Dan, Do you know where Balthasar lived in Germany?

Dan, if he was from Trebur, then you should find him in the church records for that town. The Family History Library has copies of the Lutheran church records for Trebur, but they are only available to be viewed at the library. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/764029?availability=Family%20History%20Library

Can I see those at an affiliate or only in Salt Lake?

They do not appear to be online at this time so you would need to go to Salt Lake to view the microfilms.

Your other option would be to view the records through Archion.de which is a subscription website. https://www.archion.de/en/browse/?no_cache=1&path=40821-647081-713517&cHash=894f752ff1635f5871b3b3282e2e5e78

You said "at this time". Any idea when they they might be online?

That part is unclear. If you look at the FHL catalog entry you'll see that there are numbers in the DGS column so they have been digitized, but the icon is still a microfilm (rather than a camera) so the images are not posted online. There are numerous reasons why they might not be online.

If there are any archion experts out there who can look for me maybe we can make a deal...
