NLS maps is one of the best resources out there. And FREE. (NLS is National Library of Scotland). Is has maps from all over the world not just Scotland. Here is the link:

There is a very nice map of London dated 1868 at http://london1868.com/ which allows you to click on portion of the map to zoom in enough to see the street names and other details. It looks like Chelsea is covered by the four sections on the bottom left of the map. If you have the family in the 1881 census it should be possible to follow the census places on this sort of map.
