Request: view of a restricted image (Ottoman nufus register, Safed), original missing at the archive

Hello,

I am looking for someone at a FamilySearch Center or Affiliate Library who could view one image for me. It is restricted, and there is no FamilySearch location in Israel.

Image: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSGC-W9T6-9

DGS 008214009, image 00495 (film 1212828). Ottoman nufus register 401, Safed.

The Israel State Archives told me the original volume is missing, so this film is now the only copy.

A download or a clear screenshot of the image would be a great help, and the next image (00496) too if possible.

Thank you very much,

Gal

    I understand how helpful those images can be for your research. Unfortunately, I’m not able to provide or share restricted images from FamilySearch. These restrictions are in place to honor agreements and other laws.

    If you’re able to visit a FamilySearch Center or an authorized affiliate library, you may be able to access them there. FamilySearch Center Locator : https://locations.familysearch.org/en

    An extract or transcription is all that is permitted and there are users who are willing to do that for you. They just haven't seen your post yet. Good luck with your research!

    @Gal540

    The catalogue entry for this set of records is https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/koha:34209

    The records are stated to be written in "In Ottoman Turkish (Turkish in Arabic script) except for seven books of the Ashkenazi community in Jerusalem, which are in Hebrew". The likelihood of someone who reads your post in this Community being able to transcribe Ottoman Turkish is I think rather unlikely.

    Perhaps you could ask the Israel State Archives to become a FamilySearch Affiliate Library so you can view the film. Read the link https://www.familysearch.org/en/locations/affiliates/onboarding

    @Gal540 I helped our library become an affiliate library. Although it took awhile, it was fairly easy. That said, it was in the United States. There might be something in the FamilySearch Wiki that could help. Also, Turkey is listed under the Arab Ancestry Community. Maybe someone there can help. They still won't be able to get you a copy of a restricted document though. Good luck with your research.

    What about an answer to my query, or did my question “fall on deaf ears”. Where is your answer to my question ? I wanted to know how I can extend my family line beyond 1485 in England ? It seems that Family Search doesn’t provide a way to find out more about those family members, or “hides the links”. Is there a “drop down window” that I am missing that can provide links for the information about more family names ? Please answer my question soon for me.

    @KeechBruceLee1 your question has been made into a new post by mods as it was off topic for this thread. I have posted a Research Wiki link on the new post:

    @KeechBruceLee1 Apologies, I failed to mention that your post was moved to the search category so that the community can better answer your question. Best of luck in your research.
