Editing a record's indexed data

I want to add the month to the marriage date on the record. It currently just has Day and Year. But looking closely I can see the month is indicated by ditto quotes. So it does have the full date. The software won't let me add month on the current marriage event, nor create a new marriage event with the full date. I'm sure there's someone who knows a way around this.

I was able to change "Date" to full date but the Year and Day fields are still there. Not sure if that is the best that can be done. …. Just clearing the data from Year and Day worked.
