    @Michael J. Allen @Áine.ní.Donnghaile

    If you go to Find a Person in FamilySearch and type in Undefined, you find several undefined persons with a PID.

    Some have undefined as a first and last name, with record hints titled Undefined, Undefined on the right side of the Vitals.

    The above display, Theresa W. Varney undefined and Forrest F. Varney undefined, seems to be coming from the 1950 Census Record.

    I reviewed the attachments for all sources attached to this person, and this is what it looks like. It has "undefined" in the record to be attached, and you can see the title of the 1950 census record is < Unknown>, "United States, Census, 1950. This is the second one I have come across, related to the 1950 Census Records. The first one I edited and fixed. This is what the Essential Information looks like for this record. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QHK-9QH7-1SDZ-D?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3A6XG6-PQTF&action=view&lang=en It shows no "Undefined" in the "View Record Details". So I can't figure out why Undefined seems to be slipping into the record through the source linker?

    Here is the other one I have already edited and corrected. Nancy Bartlett•PZ4B-KC5 Also 1950 Census Record

    @Michael J. Allen

    @Áine.ní.Donnghaile Listed this link containing instructions to edit records with "undefined" names for people. For these instructions to work, you will need to turn off the updated look when viewing and editing names. These instructions only work in the old view.

    21 Sep 2026 workaround confirmed still necessary and working. Also I'm glad I can find this 'how to' in my discussions since I already forgot what to do.
