I am researching an indigenous/Makassarese woman who appears in Dutch East Indies records as Melouw.

She was born around 1859–1862 and had several children with Jacobus Antonius Cornelis Lambooij, a KNIL soldier. The family was connected with Segeri/Pangkadjene, Makassar, Banda Neira, Semarang and Bandoeng.

Known records include:

  • Bertha Christina Lambooij, born 1881, later recognized in Banda Neira
  • Hendrik Lambooij, born 1893, registered/recognized in Semarang
  • Willem Lambooij, born 1899 in Bandoeng

In 1899 Melouw is described as a 39-year-old “Macassaarsche vrouw”. She was still alive in Semarang in 1902 at her daughter Bertha’s marriage.

I am looking for any records, FamilySearch films, local genealogies or lontara sources that may reveal her original local name, parents, village or family.

I am also interested in one-name indigenous women from Makassar/Segeri/Pangkadjene born around 1859–1862.
