"System is not available" error message when replacing parent

When I erroneously try to replace a father with a father that is already linked to the child, instead of getting a prompt "this relationship already exists," I get an error message "the system is not available."

@Sheryl S I'm sure that this has been reported here before, but the Vanilla search for that message text only finds this discussion! I've seen this unhelpful choice of error message myself on a few occasions.

Yes, I encounter this quite a lot when I am sorting out relationships. I soon remember it relates to carrying out the procedure in the wrong order but, yes, the display of that misleading error message needs to be addressed by the engineers. I believe there is at least one other procedure when it appears - must make a note next time I see it elsewhere. The implication is that if you return later on, in order to complete the task at hand, the system will "be available", which is absolutely not the case, of course.

@Sheryl S Thanks for reaching out. The answer is to remove the duplicate mother rather than add the same father.

    Here's a video that explains https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/how-do-i-correct-the-wrong-parent-or-child-in-family-tree

@shecorwe the problem here is more the meaningless and confusing error message, would you be able to get the engineers to look at that?

@shecorwe this meaningless error message is a bug in the error handling of existing functionality - fixing it should not require a feature request.

@shecorewe This is a bug. It has now been reported. I find the suggestion to go to yet another place and Suggest an Idea to try to get a bug fixed to be extremely unhelpful. This user community interface is already very difficult to navigate and to find what is needed.
