Person Timeline Map - Show Route: shows trips that were never made
When you show the route on a profile's timeline, it may use inappropriate events from the event list, namely those that do not apply to the profile person. For example, it will include the death of a parent or a child. It is obviously fine to include these on the timeline list, but not necessarily on the route map. The birth of a child could also be excluded for a father. This anomaly gives rise to spurious sectors on the route, such as a parent apparently travelling halfway round the world to attend the funeral of a parent (even in the 19th century) or of a son killed during a war, or of a father travelling back from a war for the birth of a child conceived before he left for the war. The route process could generally exclude events that do not imply the presence of the profile person at their location. Probates for a profile's subject could also be excluded; they can take place in another country and are often dated with just a year, which means FS treats them as occurring on the first day of the year and therefore often before death.
For an example, show the route for Emma Kilpin (LVN4-4DN). She was born in Buckinghamshire in 1862, emigrated to New Zealand in 1869, has numerous events recorded in New Zealand, apparently went to France in 1916 when two of her sons were killed (1916 and 1918), and returned to New Zealand in time to enrol to vote in a New Zealand electorate.
