I am looking for a death certificate for my grandmother. She died in 1972, and I found an index of the record, but it doesn't show the cause of death which is what I am looking for. She died in Athens, Georgia. Any suggestions?

You will likely have to contact the state of Georgia Vital records to access the death certificate for a death that recently. It will most likely not be available for viewing on the internet.

Georgia death certificates are open to the public, anyone can order. https://dph.georgia.gov/VitalRecords

Are you in Ancestry.com? You might find the death cert there.
