Help finding a great grandparent

I have info attached to my tree and all seems to lead to dead ends. My grandfather name is Fred Lee Hughes born 1924 I think virginia ir I was told ,he is the son of Will and Mollie Hughes ( info is named used at family reunions)(I can not find any info on this) He has several half siblings ,names including snodgrass whom mother (Mollie, Maggie Mary) snodgrass Wilson Carter. His mother is linked to the tree I have his grand parents correct on the tree. I have searched all local historical sites here including lee, Scott, Wise, sullivan. I'm at a dead end. Family members will not speak of this . Any help or suggestions I can try would be of great help.

Ah, got it - sorry, I misunderstood! So you're looking for information about Will Hughes, assuming that's the correct name. Let me do a bit of poking around and see if I can come up with anything that might help.

I know the feeling! Of course, I hope I can help. I always love a good hunt! Some of this you may have already found, but:

It looks like Molly/Maggie/Mary is attached to someone else's family tree under the maiden name of Maggie Frances Carter (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/landscape/L5NL-WSJ). Under her name, there's a record from 1922 that shows her marriage with W H Hughes (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XR3W-NVC); however, the image isn't available online. But there's a little more information about him after clicking on his name (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XR3W-NVD).

From there, I searched Ancestry.com, library edition (see if your local public library gives you access to this - you can't create family trees or save records to an account, but you can view them; I highly recommend!) for: W H Hughes; Lee, Virginia, USA; born: 1880. That resulted in a 1920 census record for Will H Hughes, which can be found on FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MJJ1-WY9)

and a December 1924 death certificate from the same district where your grandfather lived in 1930 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9GL-Y9GZ?i=297&cc=2377565&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQVR7-1FSC).

In searching for the 1920 census on FamilySearch, I saw that the record was already attached to a William Hughes, whose family members' names match the ones you provided: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LT36-42V

    Is this him?
