MY THOUGHTS ON AI -
I appreciate everyone’s passion about preserving accurate family history. AI tools are new, and people are still learning how to use them responsibly. I understand the concerns about authenticity, and I also understand why some people use AI to repair or clarify damaged photos. I think the most important thing is honesty — clearly labeling anything that has been enhanced or generated so future researchers aren’t misled. We all care about our ancestors, and we’re all trying to preserve their stories the best we can. Kindness and clarity will help us navigate this new technology together.

@lindsayanngermer1 (also tagging @AmberML1) what you say makes perfect sense, but with the best will in the world saying it here on Community will not get the message out to those who need to see it. @AmberML1 any news on the relevant FS policy updates? (I completely understand there will be a lot of hoops needing to be jumped through, but the whole topic of AI is unsurprisingly getting a lot of comment here on Community, a lot of it not particularly constructive, and the sooner we get some clear statements of the FS view, the better.)
