Display of Marriage Place in PAF5
Yes, I know the program was discontinued in 2013, but I still find it useful for storing information on my living or recently deceased individuals of interest!
My question relates to the problem I have in displaying the Place of Marriage on a Family page. No problem with the Date, or with Birth and Death events (for both place and date), just with viewing the place of marriage unless I click "Edit Marriage", where the event place can then be viewed.
I doubt there are many (any?) Community members using this program nowadays, but any advice on this specific issue would be most appreciated!

I am not sure I understand your question. But to edit the Marriage Field in PAF5, simply "double click" on the Marriage field. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response, but (as illustrated in the screenshot) the display of the placename is the problem.
The place of marriage has been correctly added, but I can only view it when I click on Edit.

I don't use PAF, so I can't help, unfortunately. I looked on another platform where there are many User Groups for genealogy software, but I didn't find one for PAF. Sorry not to have an option for you.1 -
Paul, I got it (finally)…. yes, PAF doesn't display the place name in the Family View. Because PAF is not longer "supported", you will have to "live with" that limitation. I was going to suggest you might use Ancestral Quest (written by the same programmer as PAF), but on checking it out, I find that Ancestral Quest doesn't even display the marriage date (let alone the place) in the Family view. I am still a strong proponent of keeping your genealogical information on a "third-party" software package, such as Ancestral Quest. (even tho at times I feel like a "lone voice in the wilderness".

@fnulnu1999 You're definitely not the lone voice. I've had my research backed up, offline, on Family Tree Maker since 2008. I download and back up regularly.

Thanks for your efforts. I'm probably relying on someone visiting here who had a working knowledge of what is effectively a now abandoned means of keeping a genealogical database. Of course, it has very basic use, but suits my desire to keep separate files relating to specific "groups" of individuals - generally, ones I have not added to Family Tree, or my Family Tree Maker program.
The "Help" section is not too helpful and I just can't work out why, by default, the placenames appear alongside the date of event for the Birth and Death, but just the date when it comes to the Marriage event (as shown in my screenshot of a "Family" page).
Incidentally, I also have Ancestral Quest (Basics), which I believe is based on the original PAF5 program, and this is how the vitals (on Arthur John Tungate's "Family" page look there:
No issue with the marriage place being displayed there, as you can see.
(Don't ask me why I just don't use Ancestral Quest Basics version instead - although it does it include less detail of the spouse on the Family page of the primary individual!)

Yes, that appeared to be the case as far as I could see when I was about to copy the AQ Family page for Arthur Tungate here - in order to provide a direct comparison to PAF5's presentation. Then I realised I hadn't added Charlotte Coake as his spouse, in AQ. Once I did that, I was able to add their marriage event details and, hey presto, both place and date of the event did carry over to the Family page (as illustrated)!

Paul and Aine, my apologies re: Ancestral Quest. I didn't look in the right place for the marriage information but clearly it displays both the date and place, which is an update from PAF5. Thanks for being patient with me.
