Translation Request
Hello everyone,
I am writing from Brazil, where I am researching my family's Italian origins. My great-great-grandfather, Cesare Fedele Trecenti, was born in Isola Dovarese (then Dipartimento del Mincio, today province of Cremona) in 1867 and emigrated to Brazil. I am trying to go back one more generation.
What I have documented so far:
- Cesare Fedele Trecenti, b. 1867 in Isola Dovarese, son of Luigi Trecenti and Margherita Ponzoni (married 7 March 1859)
- Luigi Trecenti, b. ca. 1830, d. Cremona 25 June 1881, son of Giusto Trecenti and Rosa Guarneri
My goal is to identify the parents of Giusto Trecenti — the generation born in the late 1700s.
The attached images are from the Napoleonic civil registers for Isola Dovarese (Archivio di Stato di Mantova, on Portale Antenati). The handwriting is beyond my ability to read reliably.
Could someone please help me with:
- The surname of the declarant — I can read "Giuseppe" fairly clearly, but the surname could be Trecenti, Vicenti, Sacenti, or something else entirely.
- The name of the declarant's father (the word following "figlio di") — this is the name I most need.
- The mother's name — I think I see something like "Bartola Formaggia", but I am not confident.
- Whether this family appears connected at all to Giusto Trecenti and Rosa Guarneri, or whether this is a different household.
Please feel free to correct any of my readings — I would much rather have the truth than my own guesses. These documents will support an Italian citizenship application, so accuracy matters a great deal to me.
Thank you very much for your time and expertise.
