Am I wrong to be very annoyed?
I recently had a chat interaction with someone who disagreed with my I identification of a spouse: so he removed the spouse, and also removed the children from both parents. Never mind who was right … I just want to quote part of their response when I questioned them on it:
"As for the children I saw no reason to keep them as they never married or had children with anyone. Trees are suppose to have branches...no branches what is the point. Fix it if you feel so upset..."
Am I wrong to feel very irritated by this?
(Yes I'm venting.)

@CharlesRezk I absolutely don't think you are wrong to be upset, I am amazed that this person thinks those poor children should be written out of history just because they had the temerity not to reproduce!

The good thing about the FS tree - everything can be changed by anyone.
Everything you had entered is available in the change log, and you can reverse almost any change relatively easily. Yes, it is annoying to have to be constantly on watch, but it's necessary if we want to participate in an open-edit project.

Thank you for sharing what happened. In the FamilySearch shared tree, no contributor should remove a spouse or children simply because they disagree with another user’s identification. Significant relationship changes—especially deleting spouses or entire child groups—must be supported by sources and accompanied by clear reason statements. Removing family members without evidence is not in line with FamilySearch’s collaboration guidelines.
If you have solid documentation for the spouse and children, please restore the relationships and include reason statements and sources for each conclusion. You can also message the other contributor through the change log to request their evidence. If the removals continue without explanation, you may escalate the issue to FamilySearch Support so they can review the pattern of edits and take appropriate action.

edits and take appropriate action.When you report, be prepared to receive a boilerplate reply stating that a difference of opinion does not constitute abuse. It can take months of patience and repeated reports to convince Support that the abuse is real.

Thanks. It's not the first time I've had these disagreements. Normally I don't get too upset about it, and I know how to handle it. In this case I hadn't explained my reasoning especially well (and I'm still working on it). I was just blown away by the idea that someone thinks people with no descendants don't matter. I think they matter in themselves, simply as part of history (besides the fact that they can provide important clues about other people).
In any case, two of those removed children did marry and have children themselves (and one probably has living descendants).

This is nothing new. My wife has proof in the sources, and someone will come along and change the information. They don't read the sources. Another problem is they will change the name and information form English into Spanish.
