Record search shows "Something Went Wrong" for every query — how to fix?

Whenever I run a Historical Records search, the results page shows only an error: “Something Went Wrong — Unfortunately, something went wrong, and we are unable to display the search results.”

Details:

• It happens for every query, even a simple name-only search (Information removed) ) with no other filters.

• It fails both from the search form's Search button and from a direct results link.

• The search form itself loads fine — only the results fail to display.

• I'm signed in (a recently created account). Reloading and clearing the query don't help; the same error appears every time.

• Browser: Chromium-based desktop, no ad blockers, cookies accepted.

Is this a known outage right now, or is there something a new account needs to do (verify email, accept terms, a setting) to make record-search results load? I'm trying to search the California Marriage Index and other historical records. Thank you!

    @tamir44 You currently have another search in which names of living individuals were removed, these names appear to be the same. Please remember that FamilySearch Community Code of Conduct prohibits the use of living individuals in these discussion groups.

    @tamir44 There is no known outage; searching historical records is working fine for most people. So there must be something about your account, your environment, or your search that is leading to the disappointing response you are seeing. Here are some suggestions:

    • Try clearing your browser's cookies as explained in How do I delete cookies from FamilySearch?
    • Try doing another search for entirely different people and times. For example, search for records related to Abraham Lincoln, born in 1809 in Illinois. You can just click on the link I provided to do that exact search. Do you still see that error?
    • Try doing the search in a different browser, if that is convenient. If you are currently using Chrome, try Firefox or Edge, or vice versa.

    @tamir44

    We are having trouble duplicating the exact issue you’re experiencing with the message:

    “Unfortunately, something went wrong, and we are unable to display the search results.”

    To help us investigate further, could you provide the PID for any individual where you are seeing this specific result? If you can also describe the exact steps you took — such as the search path, filters used, or whether you were searching from the person page or the main Historical Records page — that will help us narrow down what might be causing the problem.

    Thank you for your patience as we work to understand the issue.
