Recovery email address used for notification
Can anyone please help me. I receive all FamilySearch notification on my email address specifically registered for account restoration. Not the email address entered in my contact information. Anyone who can explain the logic, and how to receive notifications on the preferred email address

FamilySearch sends different types of emails to different addresses depending on which email is tied to your login credentials versus your contact information. Account‑security messages always go to the email used for account recovery, even if your “preferred” or “contact” email is different. To receive notifications at your preferred address, you must change the email associated with your FamilySearch login identity, not just the contact card inside your profile.
If you want all notifications to go to your preferred email, you will need to update the email connected to your login identity. The steps depend on how you sign in:
- FamilySearch username/password: Update the “Account Recovery Email” under Settings → Account.
- Church Account: Update your primary email at churchofjesuschrist.org/account.
- Google, Apple, or Facebook login: Update your primary email with that provider, then sign in again.
Once your login email is updated, FamilySearch will begin sending security notifications to that address. Your contact‑information email will continue to be used for messages from other users and community communications.
If you’d like help identifying which login method you’re using, feel free to ask.
