Spurious conflicts reported when saving a vital name change

This has started occurring recently. Sometimes, when I click SAVE to change a profile's vital name, several conflicts are reported. This isn't strictly a profile quality score issue because that is not available for the examples where I have seen this. Here is an example for Margaret Helen Mills KCCL-SLY. Clearly the process is confusing Margaret and her husband William when doing the checking. The sources are all correctly attached. Also, the first two conflicts are spurious; Margaret and William do not have any alternate names, and their vital names both have first and last names.

Conflicts (12)

  • The first name is missing.
  • The last name is missing.
  • This person has a first name of William, which does not match the name Margaret.Margaret Anderson, "New Zealand, Civil Records Indexes, 1800-1966"

    @JulianBrown38 Thanks for reporting. Has the issue resolved itself, or did you dismiss the error messages? I do not see any of those items when looking at Margaret's profile.

    @JulianBrown38
    Those messages come from the Data Quality Score project. You'll want to post in that group where Engineers keep an eye on any issues.

    @shecorwe I dismissed this with the default reason, which was automatically set to what I had entered for my change. I have just encountered another case for Helen Brown Cuthbert P6GC-5LF; similar conflicts relating to confusion of spousal first names, and missing first and last names.

    @JulianBrown38 Now that is strange. I am not seeing a quality score for Helen Cuthbert at all - it says "Not Available at This Time" when I look at her profile.

    @shecorwe Margaret Mills does have a Quality Score but no conflict issues resembling those that I saw when I changed her name.

    Helen Cuthbert doesn't have a baked-in Quality Score because she currently doesn't have a birth place. Nonetheless, when I update her name, 7 conflicts are reported. I have just reproduced her case when I updated the reason for my change.

    @JulianBrown38 @Lars van Ravenzwaaij I have been able to recreate the error and will send this to the appropriate team. This post will be moved to the Data Quality Score Group, and I will post a link when it is available.

    MOD Note: I’ve moved this discussion to the Data Quality Score section so it stays with similar topics and is accessible to the engineers and the reporting team in the future. This thread is closed, and all further comments should be posted here:
