Collection: India, Deaths and Burials, 1719-1948 https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/collection/1584968
The yellow collection banner states this is an index, thus we would not expect to see any images.
Search terms: Samuel Mackenzie/ Spouse first name: Gertrude.
We would expect the record details page to open properly with the indexed information, but no image.
Instead on public accounts, we are getting "We're Unable to show this record. This record can only be displayed on certain accounts."
We tried a member account, but got the same results.
When we went down the page and tried about six other search results, we got a mixed result. Some gave only the same message, and some opened the record details page with an option to browse to the image.
Is this working as intended?

Rotating that record, it appears to be a record for Gertrude, who died in 1936 in Bengal.
A high percentage of searches for 1926-36 in that collection, using random names, return the "We're unable to show this record" message.
Records with earlier dates display the index. There may be a data privacy limit in play.

@karenrasmussen Who knows what is in this collection? Since its introduction in 2010, Family Search has unhelpfully NEVER given any information about the contents.
However looking at my resources I believe the contents is basically the India Office Records at the British Library which up until recent times were available at FamilySeach Centres and Affiliate Library, but available on home computers for LDS Church members.
The data is also available on Findmypast, and for a death in 1936 I believe would be freely available without restriction.
For anyone researching India in the British period, for FamilySearch records see the FIBIS Wiki page https://wiki.fibis.org/w/IGI with the proviso that recent changes at Family Search may not yet have been reflected in the page.

Yes and no.
Regarding the different access messages you’re seeing in the search results: this is not a bug. Some records link to browseable images, some redirect to Find My Past, some display “images not available,” and others show “We’re unable to show this record.” In the case of Samuel Mackenzie, film 5142016 includes baptism records up to 1936, which places it within a valid restriction period. (It is an error that the search index isn't syncing with the permissions system.)
As Áine mentioned, this is a Legacy Collection—an index created from record‑extraction projects that began in the 1970s and drew from many different sources. FamilySearch is now working to link images to these older extracted records, but that process is still incomplete for this collection. Thank you, @MaureenE123 for sharing the link explaining the various extracted record groups for India. As you implied, this collection is a mixed bag. On that same film 5142016, some records come from the British India Office collection and others from India, Births and Baptisms. These are essentially the same records, but in the first case the images are linked through Find My Past, while some in the original collection do not allow access at all, regardless of date.
Hopefully this is an ongoing project, and these inconsistencies will be resolved as the linking work continues.
