Correcting Incorrect People in Tree
Someone has changed my paternal great grandfather with another person who is not related. This means the ancestors from my great grandfather through my 9th great grandfather (who is a Mayflower passenger) are all incorrect. I think they picked up a step parent's name and went with that so my entire tree on my paternal side is wrong. It is so disheartening as I've spent so much time researching and completing my tree. I guess because it's a public tree this shouldn't be such a surprise to me, but I feel terrible about it. I think a second cousin made the changes and I've messaged all second and third cousins with the correct lineage, but no one has responded. Is there any way I can remove the wrong people and re-enter the correct ancestors?

All information that has ever been on a profile is maintained in the Change Logs for each profile. If this incorrect editing involved just one person, then is it usually pretty easy to revert things. Start by going to the profile for your great-grandfather and see if he was edited to be someone else or if he was replaced by someone else. If the first, use the change log to restore his previous information and parents. If the second, then reverse the replacement.
Put plenty of notes on his profile to document the corrections.
Assuming the changes involved just him, fixing him back will restore the lines back from him.
If you need further directions, you will need to post his ID number so people can evaluate what happened and give specific instructions on how to fix it.
